Mobilier urbain du QIM

Furniture

STREET FURNITURE DESIGN FOR THE QUARTIER INTERNATIONAL DE MONTRÉAL
QUARTIER INTERNATIONAL DE MONTRÉAL

The main objective of this project was to design a complete family of urban furniture that clearly identify, distinguish and valorize the Quartier international de Montréal.

Our primary task was to express strongly our know-how in terms of advance materials technologies using aluminium as a base material in a variety of transformation processes, i.e. extrusion, sand-cast, pressurised die-cast and numerical machining. The thematic visual vocabulary was inspired by the contrast of the circle with the absolute vertical rectitude.

Many elements are included in the project; tandem lighting fixtures and posts, street and park benches, bicycle holders, trash-bins, road sign supports and special hardware components.

The project also include the re-design of the Astral Media column for an optimum visual integration with the overall street furniture vocabulary.

An important particularity of this design is the installation inside the column of the traffic lights control unit.
This project has been honoured by over 22 national and international Prizes.
